I think in some ways, raising money for adoption has been very controversial as far as I have heard from friends who have done it, they have been the victim of some harsh criticism from people both close to them and from strangers with comments like "If you cant pay for your baby, you shouldn't be adopting", "Its tacky to ask for money for something your choosing etc" and those are only a couple of examples I have heard about. Yet, I have seen such successful fundraising for adoptions because I think generally speaking, everyone wants to help others succeed and be able to also help a child find a home and the money is mainly being spent on fees. No one realizes how expensive it is until they do their research and if that in itself does not scare you away, then that is step one of this long roller coaster ride! So to sum that up, you should never be afraid of what someone is going to say as most true friends and family will do anything to help out whether it be financial or emotional support - its all very much needed!
Moving on from there, we have [cues drumroll]
To the left is this elephant, toybox, bench that my mom saw and bought immediately, it is SO cute in person! Then of course, the changing table and many baskets full of everything we will need to pack when we get that call. I also found the adorable signs for above it, we are just missing some frames.
Next up...our homestudy!! Phil will be writing this part :)
With the wait, there is part of me that doesn't want us to finish the baby's room, as all we would be left with is just the wait. Having to still finish certain aspects of the baby's room keeps us busy and not focus on counting the days.
We did speak with our social worker about how long we've waited and we did get some good news that we're getting into the sweet spot, so we're crossing our fingers that we may have a baby in time for Christmas, as that would be the most amazing gift ever.
Thank you all for coming along for the ride with us!
