Kaylee is a huge part of our entire family’s life! As a child, I always wanted a dog but due in part to finances and allergies I was unable to have one. As I was dating Phil, we would talk about someday getting a dog together, we researched which would be the best breed for us and happily chose a Yorkshire terrier. In 2008, with just a stroke of luck and love, we were referred to a breeder who lived close and was highly recommended – we jumped on the chance to meet the newborn puppy and instantly we were chosen by this new life (photo to prove it!).
We had a choice of five different puppies but for us, this was an instant connection and we were reassured when she raised her paw to touch Phil and then me! We went by the house daily to hold and care for her and at 5 weeks old, the breeder felt we would be able to care for her (usually you have to wait 8 weeks). I remember that was one of the scariest times for us, as it was our first taste of “parenting” and of course the lost sleep between feeding such a young puppy and attending to her is only a small percent of what we are in for and we are so ready!
Kaylee is now five years old and we visit the breeder once a year, so Kaylee could see her mother, father and sister (Open puppy adoption!). The breeder and our vet always say how amazed with us, they are. We made sure to expose her to children and babies since she was young and she is so gentle and loves them (truthfully she loves everyone!). She does not bite, is very playful and full of energy but is very obedient as well. I taught her a ton of tricks as a baby and she amazes everyone who meets her, let’s just be honest – she’s so very spoiled with love!
